A full-time postdoctoral research fellow position is available within the Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School, under supervision of Laura Germine, Ph.D. Expected start date is flexible, with the expectation that the fellow will start between March 2020 – July 2020. The fellow will work on projects investigating inter-individual and intra-individual differences in cognition, mood, and behavior across a range of physical and mental health conditions, as well as in healthy aging. Projects are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Aging, as well as the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Disease to look at the relationship between cognitive function and state-related psychological /physiological factors. The fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to key national initiatives towards mobile monitoring of cognitive change (for mental health, aging, and chronic disease). The fellow will also have the opportunity to work with cutting edge methods for assessing cognition and behavior using digital technology, as part of Dr. Germine’s laboratory and the TestMyBrain.org project where data is available from over 2.5 million participants worldwide. The fellow will have access to this data as well as contribute to the further development of web and mobile technologies that serve the public good and advance the science of cognitive health.

A PhD or equivalent in psychology, neuroscience, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, or a related field is required. The candidate should have an interest in measurement as well as applications of digital technology towards understanding health and disease. The candidate must have experience or sufficient background to conduct statistical analyses of cognition and behavior.

The Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology is part of the Institute for Technology in Psychiatry (ITP), a newly launched initiative at McLean Hospital that aims to develop, validate, and apply mobile, web, and informatics-based health technologies to assess, monitor, and treat mental disorders.

In addition to an appointment at McLean Hospital, the fellow will be recommended for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
